In post-harvest management, the application of edible coatings serves as an effective strategy to mitigate the deterioration of tomatoes and extend their shelf life. This study aimed to evaluate the optimal concentration of avocado seed extract for the formulation of an edible coating and to assess its application on tomato fruit. The research was conducted at the Agricultural Product Processing Laboratory, Polbangtan Gowa. The research was conducted using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four levels of treatment (avocado seed starch-based edible coating) with three replications. Each experimental unit comprised five tomato fruits, resulting in a total of 60 samples. The results demonstrated that avocado seed starch concentrations of 10 g/L and 15 g/L were effective as edible coatings for prolonging the storage life of tomatoes. Specifically, the 15 g/L concentration (P2) emerged as the superior treatment in maintaining weight loss stability, firmness, and color quality compared to other treatments.
Jati Nurcholis, Ultapri Ultapri Magfira, Rachmat Adiputra, Ramli Ramli, Ummu Aimanah ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.uicm.ac.id/index.php/composite/article/view/953 Fri, 30 Jan 2026 14:57:06 +0000 Analisis kadar abu, karbohidrat dan lemak telur asin oven pada berbagai tingkat suhu pengovenan https://ejournal.uicm.ac.id/index.php/composite/article/view/977
This study aims to evaluate the impact of varied oven drying temperatures on the chemical quality, or proximate composition, of salted eggs, specifically focusing on the ash, fat, and carbohydrate content. This study aims to analyze and synthesize the mechanisms through which food product labels enhance MSME branding. We employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) adhering to the PRISMA protocol. The research synthesized 10 scientific articles from the Semantic Scholar database, published between 2022 and 2024, within the specific context of Indonesian MSMEs. Through thematic analysis, this study identifies three primary mechanisms of labels as branding instruments: (1) Brand Legitimacy, where certification labels (Halal/P-IRT) act as trust signals; (2) Brand Identity, where visual design creates product differentiation; and (3) Brand Communication, which facilitates digital market positioning. The findings conclude that effective labeling requires a synergy between regulatory compliance (legality) and creative visual design to build strong brand equity. This study suggests that labels should be managed as intangible assets to improve MSME competitiveness in both local and digital markets
TB. Diana, Henita Fajar Oktavia, TB. This study aims to determine the effect of the substitution level of cocoa bean shell powder on the characteristics of powdered drinks and to determine the best formulation based on sensory and chemical properties. The study used an experimental method with a Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of five substitution treatments of cocoa bean shell powder and cocoa powder (10:90, 15:85, 20:80, 25:75, and 30:70) with five replications, and Duncan's further test was carried out if there was a significant difference and to determine the best value. The parameters analyzed included organoleptic tests (color, aroma, taste, texture, and aftertaste) using a hedonic test as well as pH and Brix analysis. The results showed that the substitution of cocoa bean shell powder did not significantly affect the level of preference for color, taste, aftertaste, pH, and Brix. The 25:75 substitution treatment produced the best characteristics with an aroma value of 4.08 and texture 3.98. Thus, substitution of cocoa bean husk powder up to 25% has the potential to produce powdered beverages with sensory qualities acceptable to consumers.
Mita Ramadiyanti, Muhtadi Akmal Filah, Melia Siti Ajijah ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.uicm.ac.id/index.php/composite/article/view/1026 Fri, 30 Jan 2026 15:03:15 +0000 Seleksi calon pohon plus gaharu (Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk.) di agrowisata kebun gaharu Purwakarta https://ejournal.uicm.ac.id/index.php/composite/article/view/1027
Agarwood (Aquilaria malaccensis Lamk.) is a commodity with high economic value. The results identified 10 candidate plus agarwood trees selected from 81 evaluated trees, namely trees numbered 3, 8, 14, 15, 24, 29, 32, 34, 46, and 69. The Integrated Urban Farming System (IUFS) is a sustainable agricultural approach that integrates crop production, aquaculture, and livestock subsystems within a circular resource-use framework. This study aimed to implement and analyze an IUFS model on a limited land area of 100 m² in Sukapura Village, Kiaracondong District, Bandung City. The research employed an applied research approach using descriptive-analytical and limited experimental methods over one production cycle. The IUFS model integrated hydroponic subsystem producing pakcoy, water spinach, and lettuce; Nile tilapia aquaculture; and local chicken farming. The results indicated that the hydroponic system achieved high and stable vegetable productivity, with the substitution between tilapia pond water and liquid organic fertilizer without reducing crop yield. The tilapia and chicken subsystems demonstrated good growth performance and improved feed efficiency through the utilization of vegetable residues. Overall, subsystem integration formed an effective nutrient cycle that enhanced input efficiency and reduced organic waste. The IUFS model developed in this study shows strong potential as a productive, efficient, and sustainable urban farming solution to support urban food security and household economic improvement.
Luqman Darmawan, Edeng Hidayat, Asep Najmudin, Intan Meylan ##submission.copyrightStatement## https://ejournal.uicm.ac.id/index.php/composite/article/view/1029 Fri, 30 Jan 2026 15:10:33 +0000 Hubungan respon petani dan tingkat produktivitas mangga pada sistem tanam Ultra High Density Planting (UHDP) https://ejournal.uicm.ac.id/index.php/composite/article/view/1030
The UHDP (Ultra High Density Planting) implementation system in Compreng District, Subang Regency has been introduced since 2018 as a trial by the Tropical Fruit Research Institute (BALITBU). Based on data from mango farmers in Compreng District, there are 8 villages with a total of 400 farmers, of which only 6 have implemented the UHDP system completely. The average productivity achieved is only 7444.5 kg/ha/year, which is still very far from the productivity that should be achieved if using the UHDP system. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between farmer responses and the level of mango productivity in the UHDP system. The research method used was a survey. The population of 108 mango farmers in Mekarjaya Village was taken as a sample of 22 people, the category of farmers who have implemented the whole or only partially in the application of UHDP. The results of the study are as follows: (1). The assessment of the UHDP planting system preparation is in the medium category with a score of 456. UHDP cultivation care is in the medium category with a score of 660. UHDP harvest preparation is in the medium category with a score of 326; (2). The average productivity achieved is 7444.5 kg/ha/year with a score of 32, which is in the low category; (3).
